Fran was born in Crestline on September 9, 1935 to the late Anatolio and Concetta (Arcudi) Christini. He married Charlotte M. (Poznik) Christini on October 21, 1972 and she survives him.
Fran graduated from Crestline High School in the Class of 1954. When Fran lived in Crestline, he was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and in Florida, he was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. He worked as a barber in Crestline, owned Harry's Bar, and worked for the Bisman Distributing Company. Fran then was employed as a Project Inspector for the State of Ohio. After retirement he went back to work for K.E.M. McCartney and Associates in Mansfield until he and his wife Charlotte relocated to Florida in 2009.
Fran loved to cook and bake and his family will always cherish the memories made at Sunday dinner. He looked after his neighbors and often had the family deliver plates of homemade food after the meal was over. He was such a caring man who always looked after others. When he was younger he loved to walk and run at Kelly Park and even into his 80's enjoyed taking his dog "Angel" for walks. Fran loved to plant flowers, carnations and roses being among his favorites. He was also an avid woodworker and loved making things in his garage on Wiley St. Fran will always be known for his sense of humor and ability to make people smile. He was a caring man who always did so much for his family. He loved being a grandpa and had 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. They meant the world to each other.
In addition to his wife Charlotte, he is survived by his daughter, Lori (David) Fate of New Port Richey, FL; his son, Alan (Karen) Schaffhauser of Crestline, grandson, Aaron (Rebeka) Schaffhauser of Harrisburg, PA; granddaughter, Amy Schaffhauser of Kittanning, PA; granddaughter, Rachel Crawford of Largo, FL; grandson Ryan (Kelly) Crawford of Morton, IL; great-grandchildren, Alayna, Nolan, Calista, Avery, and Nora, all of Pennsylvania, his brother Edward (Carol) Christini of CO; his sisters Mary Ann (Charles) Newhon of Crestline, and Patricia Harley of Crestline.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Vincent Christini, Joseph Christini, three infant brothers each named Samuel, and his brother-in-law Donald Harley, who recently passed away on April 28, 2017.
Friends may call Friday, May 19, 2017 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. A Vigil Service will be held at 8:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline with Rev. Paul A. Fahrbach, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Crestline.
Memorial contributions may be made to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in care of the funeral home.
