Obituary

James G. ''Jim'' Leppert, 86, of Galion, died Monday, November 6, 2017 at Galion Community Hospital, Galion.

Born in Galion on May 14, 1931, he was the son of the late Robert Cyril and Martha L. (Fabian) Leppert.

Jim served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne. He was honorably discharged from the army in 1953 and then went to work at the Stratbury. In 1962 he started working at Galion Iron Works and retired in 1993 after 33 years of service. Jim was of the Catholic faith. He was a Lifetime Member of the AMVETS Post #1979, Galion and the VFW Post 4329, Galion. He enjoyed watching television, especially Westerns, and fishing.

He is survived by his five children, Larry Leppert, Amarillo, TX, Bob and Melissa Leppert, Galion, Rick Leppert, Columbus, Beth and Craig Eilenfeld, Galion, and Kathy and Billy Beeman, Galion; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Eugene Leppert.

Friends may call Friday, November 10, 2017 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion. Funeral services follow at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home with Fr. Paul A. Fahrbach officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion where military honors will be conducted by the Galion Crestline Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail.
