Obituary

Shirley D. Bowen, 82, of Crestline, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 31, 2018 at her home.

Shirley was born in New London on February 10, 1936 to the late Earl and Margaret (Davidson) Shick. She married James R. Bowen on February 25, 1955 and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2006.

Shirley retired from Crestline Memorial Hospital where she had worked from 1987-2002. She was an active member at the First United Methodist Church in Crestline. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Kind and loving, Shirley was proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was “everyone’s Mom”. Shirley enjoyed watching birds, and especially loved cardinals.

She is survived by her children, Douglas and Judith Bowen of Kenton, Doris and Mark Laek of Galion, Darlene and John Haines of Crestline, Aaron Bowen of Toledo, Joyce and Steve Rose of Jacksonville, NC, Nan and Shawn Burkhart of Crestline, and Bill Bowen of Crestline; her four grandchildren, Eric and Stephanie Frank, Tiffany and Tim Fradette, Christopher Bowen, and Charles and Katherine Haines; her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Stephen, and Maranda Frank, and Jeremy, Hailee, and Genna Fradette;and her sisters, Thelma Weidrick of Spencer, and Betty Jean and Orville Steele of Olivesburg.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Bowen, Norma J. Brown, Joseph Wolfe, William Shick, Loren Shick, and Harry Shick.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 5 at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Crestline, with Pastor Becky Weamer officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Door Sisters at the United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
