David Lloyd “Big B” Barnett, 53, of Mansfield, passed away, surrounded by his family, on January 14, 2020, at OhioHealth MedCentral Hospital, Mansfield.
David was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on October 22, 1966 to Mel and the late Shiela (Cortner) Barnett.
David graduated from Crestline High School in the Class of 1985. He played football for the Bulldogs and was a part of what became to be known as the “The B Line”. He was a long-time employee at General Motors, and a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He was a sucker for Van Morrison, sad songs and the blues. He was a Master Councilor for DeMolay. David loved golf and watching cooking shows. He enjoyed cooking spicy food and was a history buff. He will be remembered for his ability to debate anyone about anything. His standard quote was, “I’m not arguing; I’m explaining why I am right.”
David is survived by his children; Dara (Bobby) McKinney, Cartersville, GA; Kelsey (Kevin Rios) Barnett, Atlanta, GA; Davie (Kezaya Suto) Barnett, Mansfield; three grandchildren; Chase, Taylor, and Aiden; his sisters, Michellé Lee, Crestline; Misty Barnett, Crestline, and Cheryl Garcia, Graceville, FL, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces.
Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
