Howard L. Kleffman, 91, formerly of Galion passed away on February 20, 2019 at the Georgetown Ohio Veteran's Home.
Howard was born in Barberton, Ohio on April 28, 1927 to Paul and Elsie (Plummer) Kleffman. He married Dorothy (Sipes) Kleffman on June 29, 1947 and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2004.
Howard was owner of the Howard K Tax Service in Galion for many years. He was a former member of the Mansfield Assembly of God Church in Mansfield. Howard served his country in the United States Navy and served during World War II. Prior to becoming a permanent resident at the Veteran's Home in 2014, Howard spent much of his time there volunteering with the residents as well as being very active with the chaplain's office.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Karen (Kleffman) Lucas of Mt. Vernon; sons, Charles and Kimberly Kleffman of Mansfield and David and Jenny Kleffman Chesapeake, Virginia; sisters, Betty Harsh, Frankie Wolf, Pauline Williams, and Mary Little; 15 grandchildren, Tim, Tracey, Jessica, Chad, Shannon, Jason, Natalie, Shawn, Stephanie, Jennifer, Annaleia, Aaron, Isabella, Joshua, Caleb; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents and wife, Howard was preceded in death by a son, Chris Kleffman; a daughter, Shelley (Kleffman) Damron; and his brothers, Phillip Kleffman and Thomas Kleffman; one great-granddaughter, Dezerae Steigerwald; and one great-great grandson.
Friends may call on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, Ohio with Rev. Doug Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
