Martha L (Kidwell) Schafer

Martha L. "Marti" Schafer, 76, of Mansfield passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital.

Marti was born in Mansfield, Ohio on March 26, 1943, to the late Herman M. and Ellen C. (Kaughn) Kidwell. She married James Schafer in 1988, and he preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death in 1999 by her sons' father, Harold Kershner.

Marti worked at and retired from United Telephone Company as a dispatcher. Marti's greatest love was spending time with family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marti loved to shop and go on day trips to Amish Country.

Marti is survived by her sons, Daryl (Dawn) Kershner of Ontario, Michael Kershner of Mansfield, Steven (Lynn) Kershner of Shelby; five grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; her siblings, Thomas Kidwell of Blachleyville, Jerry Kidwell of Racine, Wisconsin, Becky (Tim) Ditmars of Galion, Scott (Deanna) Kidwell of Charleston, North Carolina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Marti was preceded in death by her son, Roger Kershner; her brother, Lonnie Kidwell; and her sister, Carol Butler.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 17, 2019 in Fairview Cemetery, Galion with Pastor Peg Welch officiating.
