Mildred Marie (Lawson) Corbin, 100, of Galion, went to eternal, loving peace surrounded by loving and dedicated family at her home in Collins, Ohio on Saturday, December 7, 2019.
Born in Flint Springs, Tennessee on October 29, 1919, she was the daughter of Charles and Amanda (Barnett) Lawson. She married L. Leon Corbin on June 5, 1949 and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1992.
Mildred leaves a deep void here and around the globe. She was a mother and friend to even those not her own and to many that never met her personally. She held a vibrant faith in Christ Jesus her Lord and in this world, with our humanity we will miss her. We are Joyous through our Faith she joins many she loved and cared for and gone on before her, including her parents, four sisters, two brothers, grandson, Donald Corbin, great-grandson, Toby Berry, and many other relatives. As a child herself, she raised her brother and sister after her parents were gone. She was a member of Four Square Gospel Church in Galion. She loved her children and grandchildren. Mildred enjoyed her classmates at the school that adopted her.
She leaves behind her children, Richard C. (Kathy) Corbin of Collins, Donald L. (Kris) Corbin of Galion, and Constance “Sue” (JR) Downing of Bellville; grandchildren, Charles (Stacy) Corbin, Crystal (Ryan) Berry, Heidi Pratt, Stacey Kuehlman, and Jeff Corbin Downing; 18 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; many special loving nieces and nephews; and many, many adoring and loving friends.
Mildred was faithful in her hope in Jesus Christ, her Lord, asking a family member to write down a few days ago a recent visit from the Holy Spirit: “The Holy Spirit came to see me and told me in a Bible verse I will walk again soon”. She is now walking in Heaven singing her favorite song “O” Come Angel Band”.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 1 PM at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion, with Revs. Loyd and Dreama Caudill officiating.
