Murray C. Weaver, Jr. age 93, of Crestline, passed away comfortably at his home on Monday, February 4, 2019.
Murray was born in Blairsville, PA on January 2, 1926 to Murray C. and Christine M. (Smith) Weaver, Sr. He married Patricia A. (McCune) Weaver on February 25, 1967 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2003.
Murray proudly served the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and Korea. He was in the First Marine Division Association and the Second Marine Division Association. In Korea, he was in the Chosin Reservoir as one of the Chosin Few. Murray retired in 1988 as a conductor from the Penn Central and Conrail Railroad after 46 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 2920 Crestline. Murray enjoyed attending his Marine Corps reunions. Throughout his life he built many dollhouses. He enjoyed fishing and camping at Lake Erie. He loved his dog, Jodie, who passed away just days before Murray.
He is survived by his son, Michael and Lana Weaver of Crestline; his daughters, Ruth Anne and Donald "Butch" Blubaugh of Crestline and Linda and Floyd "Chip" Johnston of Mineola, Texas; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ronald and Shery Weaver of Montague, CA.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his two daughters, Kathy Sue Haymond, and Linda Marie Sebastian; his sister, Bonnie; and brother, Donald Weaver.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Greenlawn Cemetery with Deacon Steve Keller officiating. Military honors will be given by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Crestline/Galion Veteran's Military Funeral Detail. A luncheon will follow at the VFW Post 2920, 100 S. Crestline Street, Crestline. The Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., is honored to serve the family of Murray C. Weaver, Jr.
