W. Ted Muntis, 71, of Crestline, passed away after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer on May 27, 2019 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
Ted was born in Crestline, on June 25, 1947, to William S. and Margaret J. (Huber) Muntis. He married Debra (Fetter) Muntis on August 15, 1970, and she survives him.
Ted graduated from Colonel Crawford High School, Class of 1965. He then enlisted in the US Marine Corps. on June of 1966, where he served his country in Vietnam. When he returned from Vietnam he worked on the family farm. Ted worked as a truck driver hauling steel and also hauled grain for local farmers. He was a member of the Crestline First United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and head usher. He enjoyed serving his church and the community. He was a Trustee for Vernon Township in Crawford County for 19 years, and also served on the Crawford County Ambulance Board for several years. Ted was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed listening to the Cleveland Indians on the radio and watching the Cleveland Browns on TV.
In addition to his wife; he is survived by his children; Jennifer and John Price, Crestline, Jodi and Ben Brown, Marblehead, W. Andy and Karla Muntis, Galion, five grandchildren; Taylor Price, Evan Price, Miles Brown, Blake Muntis and Lillian Muntis.
Ted was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Muntis and his sister, Judy Ellen Slone.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Crestline, 223 W. Main St, Crestline. Friends may also call from 10:00 AM to the time of service at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Crestline First United Methodist Church, 202 North Thoman St., Crestline, with Pastor Samara Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Reformed Cemetery, Crestline where full military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Marines and the Galion/Crestline Veteran's Military Funeral Detail.
