Alfred "AJ" "John" Barker, Jr., 77, of Crestline, unexpectedly passed away on April 20, 2021 at his home.
John was born in Mansfield, on June 23, 1943 to the late Alfred John and Beatrice (Rockwell) Barker, Sr. He married Brenda (Peterson) Barker in 1965, and she survives him in Crestline.
John graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. He was a member of the Faith Community Church. John was employed by Ohio Brass in Mansfield, Galion Dresser, and was the manager of the Mobile Home Park in Crestline. He also was a bus driver for the Richland County Transit (RCT) and a volunteer fireman. John knew no strangers and was considered a "people-person", who loved to talk on the phone. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Crestline City Council, United Way, Lion's Club, Friends of the Big 4 Depot, Republican Central Committee, and the Zoning and Appeals Committee.
In addition to his wife John is survived by his daughter, Loretta (James) Zartman of Willard.
John was preceded in death by his parents and two infant daughters, Victoria Lynn Barker and Jennifer Lynette Barker.
Friends may call on Monday, April 26, 2021, from 12:00 PM until the start of the service held at 1:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline, OH 44827, with Rev. William Fox officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Big 4 Depot, City of Galion, 301 Harding Way East, Galion, OH 44833, in care of the funeral home.
