Bobby D. Dowell

Bobby D. Dowell, 84, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, after a long illness.

Bob was born in St. Charles, VA on April 3, 1936 to the late Emmett and Minnie (Baker) Dowell. He married Wanda E. (Collins) Dowell on April 23, 1955 and she survives.

Bob retired from General Motors in Ontario in 1991 after 33 1/2 years of service. A family man, Bob was proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved to work in his yard with his beautiful flowers. He also enjoyed long drives with his wife Wanda while they enjoyed eating ice cream.

In addition to his wife, Wanda, Bob is survived by his seven children, Sharon (Robert) Williams, Galion, Debra (William) Vaughn, New Washington, Verlon (Tamra) Dowell, Galion, Eric (Vickie) Dowell, Ham Lakes, Minnesota, Randall (Terri) Dowell, Galion, Greg (Melvina) Dowell, Bucyrus, and Sabra Dowell, Mansfield; his 17 grandchildren; his 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his twin sister, Betty, who passed away at four months old, his sister, Goldie Speck; and his brothers, John, Ed, Kenner, Hershel, Junior, Carlos, Ronnie, George, Joe, and Larry Dowell.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
