Carol Sue (Strickler) Baxter

Carol Sue Baxter, 80 of Crestline, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 1, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born on August 25, 1942, in Crestline, Ohio to the late Gaylord J. and Susanne K. (Scholler) Strickler.

Carol was a graduate of Crestline High School, Class of 1960. She furthered her education, attending Ashland University and receiving her bachelor's degree in social work. Carol worked at Richland County Children Services for many years before her retirement in 2010. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Warrenville, IL, in which she watched services via zoom every Sunday. Carol had a passion for reading, which led her to work at the Crestline Library upon retirement. She enjoyed being outside and took pride in the many hours she spent gardening or tending to her flowers. Carol also loved to travel and listen to all types of music. She was a collector of recipe books and would always show up to holiday dinners with a new dish. Above all else, Carol's grandchildren meant the world to her and she cherished her time spent with them.

Left to cherish Carol's memories are her children; Stephanie (Mike) Saurers of Galion and Justin (Katie) Baxter of Chicago, IL; her Hanai daughters (which translates to "daughters of the heart" in Hawaii); Trina (Mark) Ramsey of Dallas, TX and Lisa Ross of Glendora, CA; 4 grandchildren; Mason, Carson, Susanna and Ezra; and beloved father of her children and best friend, Steve Baxter of Mansfield.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Dan Strickler.

Friends may call on Monday, July 10, 2023, from 10:00am until 12:00pm at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline, OH 44827. The service will immediately follow at 12:00pm.
