Carol Ann Rood Miller, 89, of Galion, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Magnolia Terrace surrounded by her family.
Carol was born on December 7, 1932, to the late Ora B. and Mary E. (Neumann) Tracht in Bucyrus. Carol married Dale Miller on July 31, 2005, and they spent a wonderful 17 years together.
Upon graduation from Galion High School (GHS) in 1950, Carol was a secretary for both Carter Machine and Lucas Supply for many years. Carol was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ, Galion. She had many passions and joys in life, and you could easily find Carol in the kitchen baking pies and cookies or making her famous homemade bread and butter pickles. She loved animals, but her heart was fond of rescuing cats. Carol enjoyed supporting her favorite sports teams for GHS, being outside in the sun at the beach or lake or working in her garden. Carol was a part of the "Silver Sneakers" group at the Galion YMCA, and she loved the women of her "Monthly 1950 GHS Women's Club".
Carol is survived by her husband, Dale Miller; children, Jim Foltz, Galion; Joe (Paula) Foltz, Oxford; Marcy Rood, Decatur, IL; stepchildren, Sherry (Rood) (Tom) Dylewski, Erie, PA.; Dee (Jerry) Confer, North Ft. Myers, FL.; Dan (Kathy) Miller, Lexington; Darcie Miller, Galion; three grandchildren, Dave (Brenda) Miller, Lexington; Mark Shock, Galion; IO Shock, Galion; great granddaughter, Bayla Miller; niece, Julie (Beck) Schwind; and nephew, Chuck Beck.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded by her former husbands, Joseph A. Foltz and Donald M. Rood, as well as her sister, Marjorie (Tracht) Beck.
Calling hours will be held at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion, Ohio on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Service will be held Monday, June 6, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bill Meyer officiating with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, First United Church of Christ of Galion, or the Hope Center of Upper Sandusky.
