Carolyn Jo “Nana” Songer, 65, of Crestline, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 14, 2020 at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, Columbus.
Carolyn was born in Crestline on January 5, 1955 to the late Ray Thomas and Sandra (Perman) Smith. On August 26, 1972, Carolyn married James “Jim” Songer, and he survives her in Crestline.
Carolyn was a graduate of Crestline High School, Pioneer Joint Vocational School, Class of 73, where she met Jim. She was employed for twenty-two years at Community Counseling, and also worked at the Walmart in Bucyrus. At both jobs, she made many life-long friends. Family was Carolyn’s life. Carolyn was invested in her grandsons’ lives, attending all school activities and watching them play sports. She would move heaven and earth to spend a few moments with them. She looked forward to spending time at her Koi pond with Jim and working in her garden. Her favorite time of the year was Thanksgiving and Christmas, knowing she would be celebrating with her family. Nothing could keep Carolyn from keeping in touch with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going out to eat on special occasions, especially birthdays. Carolyn was a caring soul and was famous for her macaroni salad.
In addition to her husband, left to cherish Carolyn’s memories are her children; Vicki (Shawn) Spangler of Crestline, and Travis Songer of Crestline; grandchildren; Cameron, Evan, Caulen Spangler; brothers, Steven Thomas and Craig Thomas both of Marion, and her dog, Lucy.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Thomas.
