Charles James "Chuck" Marek, 89 of Crestline, passed away on March 11, 2022 at his home.
Charles was born on March 14, 1932 in Forest Park, Illinois to the late Charles J. and Levina (Rankin) Marek. He married Mary Lou Burkhart on July 1, 1961 and she survives him.
Chuck graduated from Saranac, MI High School in 1950. He worked for General Motors in the Welder Maintenance Department for 40 years and was a member of the U.A.W. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League (Ham radio N8CMG). Chuck was a member of the NHRA Centaurs Hot Rod Club. He had been a Little League baseball coach. Chuck was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as an usher. Chuck was very proud of all his grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Left to cherish Charles' memory is his wife, of 60 years; his children; Stephen (Connie) Marek of Crestline, Scott (Betty) Marek of Columbus and David (Dorie) Marek of Dayton; five grandchildren; Rebecca (Jonathan) McPhee of Scotland, Jennifer Marek, Christopher Marek, Samuel Marek and Nicholas Marek; great-grandson, Daniel Finn Marek-McPhee; sister, Barbara Wells of Saranac, MI.; and sister-in-law, Lynn Marek.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy (Lyle) Denny, Frances (Charles) Hamilton; brother, Robert Marek and brother-in-law, Wayne Wells.
Friends may call on Tuesday March 15, 2022 from 4:00 until 7:00PM at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline. A vigil service will take place at 6:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline with Father Jeff Smith officiating. Chuck will be buried in the St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
