Christopher James Williams, 43, of Galion passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in Columbus, Ohio at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Chris was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 18, 1978 to James V. and Wendy A. (Ernsberger) Williams of Westerville. He graduated from Westerville High School where he played trombone, threw shot-put in track, and participated in the student advisory board. Chris attended Ashland University. He furthered his education and received his bachelor's degree from Otterbein University. Chris then went on to achieve his master's degree from DeVry University. While attending Ashland University, Chris met the love of his life, Jennifer Dabney. On September 14, 2002 they were married, and she survives him.
Chris worked recently at Avita Health Systems as a Server Administrator but has worked for many other companies providing technical support. Chris was very active in his church, where he helped with the children's ministry. He is fondly remembered as bursting into song about "Fruits of the Spirit", telling the best-worst dad jokes, having selfless generosity, knowing exactly when someone needed a hug, and sharing boisterous laughter that was easily heard in neighboring rooms. A smile rarely left Chris's face as he declared himself "fat and happy", with a goal to spread joy. Chris loved boating, vinyl records, problem solving, anything with wires, and especially spending time with his family and friends. In fact, it seemed like everywhere Chris went he would run into a friend or was making a new friend. Most importantly, Chris had a heart for God and that was evident in his life.
In addition to his parents and wife, Chris is survived by his sons, Wyatt Williams and Wesley Williams, both of Galion; and his sister, Ashley (John) Chaney of Worthington, as well as numerous extended family.
Calling hours will be from 3:00pm-6:00pm on Thursday, November 18, 2021, followed by a memorial service at 6:00pm. These will be held at Gospel Baptist Church of Galion. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Grand Prairie Cemetery, Brushridge.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gospel Baptist Church, 5670 State Route 19, Galion, Ohio 44833.
