Craig Stewart Thomas

Craig Stewart Thomas, 62, of Galion, (formerly of Republic, Ohio) passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Avita Galion Community Hospital.

Craig was born in Crestline on November 7, 1958 to the late Ray Thomas and Sandra (Perman) Smith.

Craig was a Crestline High School graduate, Class of 1977. He worked as a production supervisor at Geauga Plastics, Progress Plastics, Woolin Products, Sunoco and Tiffin Metal. He was an animal lover of dogs and cats, especially his beloved Baby Joe and his K-9 nieces. He enjoyed working on cars and could troubleshoot any repairs. He would let his nieces, nephews and family members know they were loved by always staying in touch. Craig supported and cheered on his great-nephews by attending their football games. He felt the holidays were very special and would show up with his famous Oreo surprise. Craig could often be found cooking in the kitchen, or outside grilling or smoking meats on his charcoal grill.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Steven Thomas, Galion; his half-sister, Tracie Thomas-Kimrey, Troy; niece, Vicki (Shawn) Spangler, Crestline; nephew, Travis Songer Crestline; brother-in-law, James Songer, Crestline; great-nephews, Cameron, Evan and Caulen Spangler; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Craig was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Songer, and his brother, Terry Thomas.

Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline, OH 44827. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
