Dale Franklin Miller, 90, of Galion passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Magnolia Terrace after a brief illness.
Dale was born in Morrow County, Ohio on August 12, 1932, to the late Clarence M. and Leanna E. (Ritzhaupt) Miller. Dale was preceded in death by his 1st wife Donna Straley. He then married Carol Rood and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2022.
Dale was a graduate of the Iberia High School, Class of 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952 - 1960. Dale was a member of Galion Masonic Lodge #414 (Free & Accepted Mason of Ohio). He worked for Galion Manufacturing, Volvo, and Covert Manufacturing as a Mechanical Engineer. Dale then started at the First United Church of Christ as a custodian/maintenance supervisor where he retired. He was also a member and attended the First United Church of Christ of Galion. Dale was a hard worker, loved working with his hands making many wood working pieces.
Dale is survived by his children, Dee (Jerry) Confer of Fort Myers, Florida, Dan (Kathy) Miller of Lexington, Darcie Miller of Galion; three grandchildren, Dave (Brenda) Miller, Mark Shock, Io Shock; and one great-grandchild, Bayla Miller; his step-children, Marcy Rood of Decatur, Illinois, Jim Foltz of Galion, Joseph (Paula) Foltz of Oxford, Ohio; sister, Joyce Bachelder of Coshocton; brother, Wayne (Ruth) Miller of Cary, North Carolina.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Miller and Leanna Miller; 1st wife, Donna Straley; 2nd wife, Carol Rood; and brothers, Delmar Miller, Vaughn Miller, James "Jimmy" Miller, Merle Miller.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 01, 2023, from 9:30am - 10:30am at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, Ohio with Pastor Darrin Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion where full Military Honors will be performed by the U.S. Army and the Galion/Crestline Joint Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
