David Kossick, 88 of Crestline, passed away on December 25, 2021 at the Crestline Nursing Home after a short illness.
David was born on August 10, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Frank and Mary (Dosick) Kossick.
He married Mary Ann (Scanlon) Kossick on October 12, 1963 and spent a wonderful 47 years together before her passing on May 9, 2011.
David was a graduate of Ashtabula High School, Class of 1951. After high school, he attended Kent State University for a short period. David was then drafted into the United States Army and proudly served our country for two years. After David's time in the service, he furthered his education attending Gannon University of Erie, PA and later graduated from Ohio Northern University and received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Degree in 1961. David was the owner of the former Clinic Pharmacy in Mansfield for 31 years and retired in 2010. He was a member of the Ohio State Pharmaceutical Association.
David was a great family man and always put his family first. He was once President of the St. Joseph School Board. David was involved with his sons' cub/boy scout groups and local swim teams. He loved to bowl and was part of a bowling league for nearly 40 years. Those who knew David will remember him for his wonderous wit. He enjoyed listening to sports on his radio while working on many projects around the house. David was a big sports fan and followed the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Left to cherish David's memories are his children; David Kossick of Crestline, Anne (Howard "Butch") Born of Oberlin and Kevin (Tessa) Kossick of Marysville; six grandchildren; Sydney and Sarah Kossick, Hope, Faith and Joy Born and Henry Day; son-in-law; Richard Day; sister-in-law; Sonja Kossick and brother-in-law; Cliff Dearth.
In addition to his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by his darling daughter; Suzanne Day and his siblings; Elizabeth Russell, Patricia Shepard and Thomas Kossick.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main Street, where a vigil service will take place at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The ALS Association or The Lung Cancer Research Foundation, in memory of his beloved wife and daughter.
