Donald "Don" Eugene Nelson

Donald "Don" Eugene Nelson, 91, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living. He was born on August 12, 1934, in Galion, Ohio, to the late Francis "Jammie" and Mary (Stogie) Nelson.

On September 15, 1952, Don married his beloved wife, Helen (Ward) Nelson. Their marriage was blessed with many years of unwavering love, companionship, and cherished memories until Helen's passing on June 6, 2023.

Prior to his retirement, Don worked for the City of Galion in electric line clearance, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Don was an avid fisherman and hunter who found great joy in the outdoors. Whether on the water or in the woods, he cherished the peace of nature and the memories he made along the way.

Don is survived by his honorary grandchildren, Sydney Brown and Addisyn Brown, and their father, Cary Brown.

In addition to his parents and Helen, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Nelson, and his sister, Dorothy Shambre.

The family will observe a private service. Don will be laid to rest beside his wife at Iberia Cemetery.
