Donna Marie (Malatin) Niedermyer

Donna Marie (Malatin) Niedermyer, age 76 of North Olmsted, passed away peacefully, after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s on March 6, 2020.

Donna was born September 13, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Martin B. and Josephine A. (Gruss) Malatin. She is a graduate of Marymount High School Class of 1961. Donna then graduated from St. Alexis School of Nursing and also obtained designation as Registered Nurse (RN). She worked most of her over 45-year nursing career at Fairview General Hospital (now part of The Cleveland Clinic) as a surgical nurse working on the open-heart team.

She lived most of her life in Westlake, Ohio. Donna was an advocate of all animals, especially dogs. In her lifetime, she raised a Saint Bernard and numerous King Labrador Retrievers while taking in different stray dogs. Donna enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, and was proud of her collection of angels.

Donna is survived by her two children; Denise (Tom) (Niedermyer) Halaska, Friendswood, Texas and Bruce Niedermyer; her grandson, Jake Halaska, Friendswood, Texas; her brother Martin J. (Delores) Malatin, Waterford, Michigan; her sister Barbara (John) DiPietro, Crestline, Ohio; her brother John Malatin, Lakewood, Ohio, and the father of her children, Dennis Niedermyer, Brunswick, Ohio.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
