Doris June Appelfeller, 93, passed away on October 12, 2021, at Crestline Nursing Home, in Crestline, Ohio.
June was born, at home in rural Marion County, near New Bloomington, Ohio, on June 27, 1928; to Harold S. Roux and Lois Susan Caroline (Dickason) Roux.
She grew up on the family farm, the youngest of six siblings. She attended school in LaRue, Ohio, graduating from LaRue High School in 1946.
In 1947, she married Raymond "Gus" Appelfeller. She was wife and stay-at-home mother of their three young children, until his early death December 7, 1959.
June then went to work at Kenton National Bank in Kenton, Ohio. She remained in the banking business until her retirement from Bank One of Ohio after 25 years of service.
When her children were young, she was a member of the LaRue Jam (mother's) Club, and a lifelong member of the LaRue American Legion Auxiliary. Her favorite past time, always, was to spend time with friends and family especially her brother, sisters, and their families.
In 1965, she married William "Lefty" Kaylor, and they were together for twenty years.
In her retirement, June resided in Port Orange, Florida. She loved her friends there, visits from her children, reading and playing cards. She always enjoyed having dogs and cats, especially her Florida rescue cat Chole.
Left to cherish June's memory are her children: Becky Appelfeller, Kettering, Janet Robenault, Crestline and Tom (Lorna) Appelfeller, Madison; ten grandchildren Adam, Anna, Raymond "Alex", Willow, Greg, Susan, Scott, Aaron, Eric, Dana; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by her siblings: Richard Roux, Virginia Greenwood, Jane Appelfeller, Rayda Jones and Eloise "Dit" Lust.
Burial will take place at the LaRue Cemetery on November 6, 2021, at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children's Tumor Foundation or the National Kidney Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
