Dorothy G. George, 89, of Crestline, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
She was born to the late Jacob and Anna (Snow) on January 27, 1933. One of nine children, Dorothy grew up in the Church singing with her sisters at Sunday services and other events. She continued singing with her twin, Lois, until she passed in 2016.
Dorothy married Rev. Dempsey George on October 6, 1966. Together with nine children, they served various Nazarene churches in three states. As a Pastors wife, she was able to use her love of singing as choir director and worship leader.
She considered being a faithful Christian, wife, homemaker, and Mother to be her most important work. She was known for feeding anyone who came to her home. Her family and friends never left her kitchen without a cup of coffee and some kind of comfort food. She was involved in PTO at her children's schools, the Hospital Guild, and Missionary Council. She was a member of the Crestline Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed traveling with their "Prime Timers" group. She especially liked spending time at Lakeside with her family. Visiting with her grandchildren, teaching them to cook, play cards and board games, were some of her greatest joys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Russell Sholler, John Sholler, Lewis Sholler and Ramond Sholler, sisters; Mary Gallimore, Helen Kellermeyer, Martha Bateman, her twin sister, Lois Ruhm and her husband, Dempsey George. She is survived by his children; Dennis (Gloria) George, Martha George, Victoria (Ruben) Florenza, Denise (Charles) Johnson, Teresa Dragstrem and their children together, Wendy (Warren) Pingree, David (Carmen) George, Philip (Stacie) George and Daniel (Trish) George and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
