Elizabeth Jane (Hoover) Hencye

Elizabeth Jane Hencye, 89, of Galion, passed away on May 4, 2022, at Magnolia Terrace.

Elizabeth was born on July 6, 1932 in Sandusky Township to the late John L. and Martha E. (Laughbaum) Hoover. On July 18, 1953, Elizabeth married her sweetheart Ronald "Gene" Hencye who preceded her in death in 2018.

Jane and her husband moved to California shortly after they were married for Gene's work. Years later, they moved to Oregon where Gene and Jane started Hencye Tool & Die business. She was the secretary and would occasionally run the machines. Her husband referred to her as "the best worker he ever had". While residing in Oregon, Jane was an active member of a local church in which she taught Sunday School and participated in many other outreach ministries. She enjoyed the Theatre, watching the Portland Trailblazers and was an avid collector of miniature shoes. Jane and Gene enjoyed their travel adventures together.

Jane is survived by her siblings; Mildred Haas, Galion, Frank (Helen) Hoover, Ontario, and Jim (Peggy) Hoover, Bay Village.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Arter.

Friends may call on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion Ohio with services to immediately follow with Pastor Ash Welch officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where Jane will be laid to rest next to her husband.
