Ernest Ray Hay

Ernest Ray Hay, 84, of Galion, passed away on November 23, 2020 at the OhioHealth Hospital, Mansfield.

Ernest was born on January 30, 1936 to the late William and Rebecca (Busch) Hay. He married Wanda (Carlyle) Hay on April 27, 1958 and she survives in Galion.

Ernest was a hard-working man. He served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956. He was always willing to help those in need; specifically welding, but he was a “jack of all trades” so he knew how to do just about anything. He thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings with the Carlyle siblings.

In addition to his wife, Ernest is survived by his sons; James, Edwin and Ricky Hay of Galion; his sisters; Francis Haynes of West Jefferson and Arlene Hay of Columbus; and his brother, Billy Hay of Bloomingburg; 5 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ernest was proceeded in death by infant daughter, Carol Lynn Hay and his brothers; Arnold and Danny Hay.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home; 303 Portland Way N., Galion. Funeral services will be held immediately following with Pastor David Carlyle officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion, where military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army and the Galion-Crestline Veteran’s Military Funeral Detail.

In accordance with the Governor’s mandate, masks will be required to enter the funeral home.
