On Thursday, April 12, 2024, Franklin “Curly” D.R. Clay saw his Savior with open arms and went to be with Him for eternity. He left this world having lived a long and happy life in his own bed. If ever there was a story of glorious redemption, it is his story. He was born April 9, 1938, in Branchland, WV to the late Walter and Maryanne (Lucas) Clay.
At the age of 14, Franklin got a job at Tiny’s Supermarket, stocking shelves to help his family financially, a theme that would continue throughout his life; helping anyone who needed it.
Franklin coached little league football for the West Mound Stars in 1976 and 1977. He went on to coach with the MDAA little league baseball; in 1981 and 1982 he coached the A’s and 1983 and 1984 he coached the Yankies team.
Left to cherish Franklin’s memories are Alice Clay, his children; Bobbie (Brad) Clay-Dudash, Franklin Clay Jr., and Charles Clay; grandchildren; Amanda (Curt) Wiggins, Melissa (Donnie) Cornwell, Marcus (Abby) Pardon-Dudash, Taylor Clay, Tara Clay; great-grandchildren, Claire, Caleb, Anabelle, Lilia, Jordyn, Lynnix, Fynleigh; siblings; Bunny Gay, Louise Caldwell and Bob Clay.
In addition to his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by his son, John Clay and daughter-in-law, Lisa Clay, as well as 10 other siblings.
Friends may call on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 10:00 - 11:00am at Nicholas Drive Church of God, 390 Nicholas Dr., Circleville, OH 43113. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00am with Frank’s pastor, Keith Williams officiating.
