Gene Edward Conley, 71, of Crestline, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at his residence in Crestline.
Gene was born in Bucyrus, on September 20, 1948 to the late Melvin and Ann (Brown) Conley. He married Emily Rose (Scardino) Conley on April 7, 1991, and she survives him.
Upon his graduation from high school, Gene served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. During this tour of duty, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Air Medal. Afterwards, Gene worked as a welder at A & G Manufacturing Company in Galion. Gene enjoyed his charger and car shows.
In addition to his wife Emily, he is survived by his children; Tracy Bucher-White, Gahanna, Tony Conley, Galion, Brian Conley, Galion, Brad Conley, Galion, his step-children; Marilyn (Gail) Niedermier, Tiro, and Karen (Wes) Hampton, Crestline, seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his sister Linda (Rodney) Mullins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM, at the Schneider Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline, with Celebrant LeAnne Gompf officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens, where full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army and the Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
