Genevieve Higgins Obituary

Genevieve "Louise" Higgins "Nana", 85 years young, of Crestline, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Galion Avita Hospital. She was surrounded by her family after a lengthy 34 year battle with numerous health conditions. Louise was born in Marion County on August 10, 1936 to the late Ray B. and Geneva C. (Little) Roshon.

On December 20, 1952, Louise married Vernon "Bill" Higgins and they spent a wonderful 35 years together before his passing on May 13, 1988.

Louise was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always willing to help others, whether it be food, babysitting, dog sitting, helping financially, or just tagging along so they weren't alone. As she got older and her health declined, she enjoyed making sure the dishes and laundry was done "HER" way (the only right way).

Louise's favorite things to do were taking walks up and down country roads, sitting outside on a swing and bird watching. She still loved her garden veggies and flowers, but now from someone else's yard once she couldn't physically do it herself.

She lived the last 7 years with her granddaughter Missy Boggs where she was a "Surrogate Nana" to all of her daycare kids and her grandchildren's friends

Left to cherish Louise's memories are her sons; Ric (Carleen) Higgins of Mt. Gilead and Randy (Joni) Higgins of Galion; sister; Annabelle Turner of Nashport; grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Pohlabel, Rex (Tara Horn) Higgins, Brett (Christi) Higgins, Jeremiah (Emily) Woodmansee, Josh (Suzanne) Woodmansee, Matthew (Katie) Higgins, Missy (Dave) Boggs, Brian (Val) Keller, Ben Keller, and Mike (Trina) Keller; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Nathan, Micaela, Isabelle, Landen, Lillian, Alexandria, Carter, Addy, Allyssa, Raegen, Brady, Abby (Tyler), Cristianna (Cameron), Tyler (Jaime), Anthony Brazzi, Sam, Ella, Macie, Leta, Deacon, and Brantley; great-great grandchildren, Tyler Jr., Emma, Cameron, and a fourth on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband, Louise is preceded in death by her daughter, Chris "Zilla" Keller and her son Jerry Lee Higgins; siblings, Blanche (Tommy) Daniel, Robert (Mary) Roshon, and Glen Dale (Jean) Roshon; and brother-in-law, Ralph Turner.

The family would like to personally thank Jack Kegley of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Chaplain Steven Knisley of Signature Healthcare and Father Jeff Smith of Sacred Heart Church for praying over her and baptizing her in the Lord. Also, to all the friends who prayed endlessly, brought food and drinks during these difficult times.
There will be a celebration of Louise's life at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at LaRue Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to, St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
