George Bauer Obituary

George Allen Bauer, 79, of Crestline, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 21, 2021.

George was born on February 18, 1941 to the late Raymond and Lois (Daum) Bauer. On November 9, 1968 the farm boy married the city girl, Linda (Dick) Bauer and they were married for 52 years, she survives in Crestline.

George was a 1959 graduate of North Robinson High School where he was Sr. Class President, a member of choir, FFA and 4H. He also attended Ohio University and obtained his Associates of Arts degree. His childhood church was Leesville Lutheran and later a faithful servant of Trinity Lutheran Church in Crestline. He always enjoyed singing in the choir, playing dartball for 60+ years and various leadership roles. Traveling to Lake Erie with friends gave him many fond memories. Donating blood to the American Red Cross was a high priority and at his death had given almost 20 gallons. An avid reader and bird watcher, he was always willing to volunteer alongside Linda’s many charitable activities. George enjoyed farming, gardening, listening to sports, fishing and hunting, especially snapping turtles. He was proud of his daughters and grandchildren who called him “Pepaw” and never missed being involved in their activities. George never knew an enemy.

Left to cherish George’s memories are his daughters; Julie Frank, Akron, Jill Fesler, Mansfield; his siblings; Naomi Pollock, Eitzen, MN, Karen (Gordon) Davies, Cedar Hills, UT, Dr. Charles (Sue) Bauer, Batavia, IL; his grandchildren, Morgan Frank, Riley Frank, Emma Fesler and Carter Fesler.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by infant sister, Madelyn Bauer and brother-in-law, Frank Pollock.
