George Montgomery Obituary

George Lawrence Montgomery went on to "Meet the Great I Am" on March 13, 2021 after a long illness. He was born on 2/22/1931 in Lost Creek, West Virginia to Lloyd O and Mable Heater Montgomery. He graduated from Unidis High School in West Milford, West Virginia. He went by his middle name Lawrence. He wrote about many things in his life and no one could say the following any better than he himself: "I still remember the first time I looked into the eyes of the one who was to become my love and helper for life. On May 18, 1951 Beulah Roberts and I became as one and started our journey through life. From this union was to emerge the wonders of two daughters and a son. We have enjoyed beautiful years together."

In 1953 he and Beulah moved to Loudonville, Ohio where he had secured employment in the brass department of the Mansfield Products Co. He was able to see a good number of his cost saving ideas put into practice as well as enjoying his sideline designing show displays for the company and building beautiful one of a kind cabinets and furniture for family and friends. Lawrence was an accomplished draftsman and machinist. In 1969 he and his family moved to the Morrow County, Ohio area where he, with his wife by his side, eventually became the owner and operator of the Iberia Machine Shop. He wrote: "We retired in 1996 but our greatest reward from those years comes from knowing so many beautiful people who I worked with and the relationship we had with the company we served. Outside of my years in industry I enjoy wood working, camping, playing the guitar and singing with my talented wife."

Lawrence was a member of the Church of Christ of Bucyrus, Ohio and in Lord. He was a true man of his faith, always the gentleman, song writer, singer, storyteller and liked to tell a good joke. He was a friend to many. He led by example. He was a hard worker beginning at a young age when his Mother told the story of how he tried to work the field with a horse and plow while still in diapers.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Beulah (Roberts) Montgomery, Daughter Velda Montgomery, Daughter Rhonda (Ken) Williams, Grandsons Kevin (Tracy) Wagoner, Carl (Brenna) Montgomery, Step Granddaughter Leah (Josh) Wesley and Step Grandson Aaron Williams and several great Children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, James Edward Montgomery and two Sisters, Patricia Hart and Leola Nardelli.
