Georgia Ellen (Stafford) Friedenstab

Georgia Ellen Friedenstab, 88, of Galion passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 27, 2022 at Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living.

Georgia was born on July 9, 1933 in rural Trigg, Virginia to the late Dan and Janie Stafford. She grew up surrounded by her loving family and music.

Georgia began working as a phone operator early in life and continued in this career until retiring at the age of 70. In addition to making thousands of telephone connections, she made many long-lasting social and civic connections around Central Ohio and Galion.  Georgia quietly left her mark on this world by helping people without drawing attention to herself.  She will be remembered by the many people she touched.

Left to cherish Georgia’s memories are her two daughters; Loveta Bowe of Elma, Washington and Yvonne (Jeff) Mateer of Orlando, Florida; brother; Bobby Stafford of North Carolina; lifelong best friend; Nathan Gilmer of Staffordsville, Virginia; grandchildren; Michael Junior, Thomas, Catherine, Sandra and 8 great-grandchildren.

 In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Friendenstab and by four siblings; Willie Beck, Dewey Stafford, Arnold Stafford, and Lois Ann Poff. 

A celebration of life for Georgia will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Georgia’s memory.
