Obituary

Hendrix R. ''Pepsi'' Barker, 88, of Crestline, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Mill Creek, Galion after a long illness.

Pepsi was born in Morehead, Kentucky on December 1, 1929 to the late John and Minnie (Mauck) Barker. He married Eliva Jean Phillips on July 6, 1973 and she survives him.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Pepsi retired as a General Foreman from General Motors after 33 ½ years of service. Pepsi loved to go fishing and golfing as often as he could. He had previously been a truck driver and loved driving truck while enjoying all the scenery on his trips. Pepsi was a member of the Crestline VFW Post #2920, the Crestline Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #859, Crestline American Legion Post #488, and the Crestline Amvets where he spent a lot of his time with his buddies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, John T. (Lynell Young) Barker, Brett (Debbie) Barker, and Rodney Barker; his stepchildren, Deb (George) Tourk, Sue Fletcher, Ray (Mina) Payne, and Rena Woodham; his sister, Mary Louise Neuerman; grandchildren, Jeremy, Casey, Blaine, Brayden, Kaileigh, Kelly, Brian, Lisa, Anthony, Nickie, Misty, Angie, Jessie, Mae, Dallas, Joshua, Travis, Kristina, Christopher, and Taylor and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepchildren, Janice Jackson, Theresa Dial; siblings, Beulah, Loren, Theop, and Talmage.

Friends may call Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main Street, Crestline where the funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Fred Bleck officiating. Following the service full military honors will be given at the funeral home by the US Marine Corp and the Crestline/Galion Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
