Obituary

Jackie L. ''Jack'' Patrick, 68, of Galion, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Indiana.

Jack was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on August 22, 1950 to the late Edgar Patrick and Mazie (Damron) Patrick of Port Charlotte, Florida. He married Brenda J. (Thompson) Patrick on November 15, 1969 and she survives him.

Jack was a Galion Tiger Graduate, Class of 1968 and earned an associate degree in business. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he was a member of the National Rifle Association. He loved coon hunting and golfing and would go as often as possible. Jack’s pride and joy was his grandchildren and he loved being with them every minute possible. In 2003, Jack retired from the City of Galion where worked at the waste water treatment plant.
Jack’s greatest passion was the Midwest, Autumn Oaks Event in Richmond Indiana. It is the granddaddy of all United Kennel Club events. The National Grand Champions of the seven United Kennel Club recognized breeds are named at this annual hunt. Autumn Oaks brings together the outstanding coonhounds from the United States and Canada to participate in a Nite Hunt and Bench Show. This prestigious event is held over Labor Day weekend each year. Autumn Oaks is a family affair and an event where old friends become reacquainted and new ones are made. Jack once again attended this great hunt that he loved so much but it fell short with his unexpected passing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Robert Patrick of New London, North Carolina and Jeremy and Angie Patrick of Galion; six grandchildren, Corporal Trebor and Sirka Patrick, Haley Patrick, Seth Patrick, Adalyne Patrick, Avery Patrick, Jayse Patrick; one great-grandson, Preston Patrick; two sisters, Wyvonne and Roger Scarbro of Port Charlotte, Florida, Mary Fisk of Marietta, Georgia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
