James Linn Obituary

James O. Linn, 91, went home to be with his wife Rita on April 6, 2019 at Signature Healthcare in Galion.

James was born in Crestline, Ohio on July 13, 1927 to Otto and Stella (Flynn) Linn. He married Rita (Daniel) Linn on May 22, 1948 and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2019.

James was a graduate of Crestline High School and he went on to graduate from Ohio University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Navy Veteran and served during World War II. James had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He had also worked as an Engineer at Whirlpool, Singer, and Vandyke, and retired from Bright Star in New Jersey. James lived in New Jersey for over 30 years and raised his family there before moving back to Ohio in 1994. He was passionate about gardening, furniture restoration, reading, and music. James was extremely talented, intellectually and creatively. James was very proud of the restoration he performed on the old stone house in New Jersey where he raised his family. James was a eucharistic minister in Long Valley, New Jersey and Crestline.

James is survived by his children, Rita Carleen (Hubert) Maultsby of Florida; Mark Linn of California; Kristin Reilly of Pennsylvania; Deborah (George) Jensen of Tennessee; Steven (Barbara) Linn of New Jersey; Kevin (Patricia) Linn of New Jersey; Brian (Eileen) Linn of New York; Matt (Lauri) Linn of Pennsylvania; Jeff (Lisa) Linn of New Jersey; grandchildren, Erica, Shaun, Jamie, Kevin, Megan, Eric, Ryan, Shannon, Samantha, Jessica, Rachel, James, Mary-Kate, Lauren, Brenna, Peter, Devon, Maggie, and Michael; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; Siblings, Mary (Ed) Briner of Massillion; Bill "William" Linn of Colorado, Dolly (Dick) Hatfield of Crestline; Margaret "Peggy" (Morris) Gatchall of Crestline, Lawrence (Linda) Linn of Mansfield.

James was preceded in death by his wife Rita Linn, his parents, Otto and Stella Linn; his son, James Michael Linn; granddaughter, Stephanie; siblings, Bob Linn, Richard Linn, Tom Linn, Nancy Jageman and Dorothy Yochem.

The family would like to thank Frieda Johns for her unending care and support of James and Rita for the last couple of years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 331 N. Thoman Street, Crestline, with Fr. Chris Bohnsack, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Crestline with full military honors, conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Crestline/Galion Veteran's Military Funeral Detail.
