James "Jim" Frank Stumpf, 93, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at his residence in Galion, OH.
Jim was born in Crestline, on May 20, 1929, to the late John and Stephana (Bee) Stumpf. He married Juanita (Myers) Stumpf on September 6, 1974, and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2020.
Jim served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at General Motors all of his life until his retirement. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and VFW Post 2920, both in Crestline. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. Florida and Gatlinburg, Tennessee, were his favorite travel destinations. He also looked forward to his trips to the Columbus Casino with John. Every morning, Jim would make the same breakfast (Cereal, Milk, and Sugar) for himself and his golden retriever, Nicky. Jim cherished his time spent with family and get togethers.
Jim is survived by his children, John (Diane) Stumpf, Galion, Kristeena (David) Morton, Crestline; his step-daughter, Delores (David) Akins, Painesville, his grandchildren, James (Amy) Akins, Michael (Kari) Akins, Christopher Akins, Jimmy (Renee) Stumpf, Jeremy (Hope) Stumpf, Santana Rapp, Michael Rapp, Brian (Tammi) Sipes, Susan (Rich) Plesac, Kevin (Mindy) Sipes, Scott (Denver) Sipes, Laurie (Nathan) Whitman; his great-grandchildren, Adeleigh, Christian, Jack, Elena, Olivia, Reese, Cody, Nick, Lauren, Abby, Andrew, Aiden, Emmy, Luke, Jordan, Hannah, Mallory, Lila, Tyler, Alec, Kennedi, Natalie, Kaleb, Lydia, Dominick, Vivian, Maddy, and Sam; and great-great grandchild, Tobias.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Stumpf, daughter-in-law, Regina Stumpf; grandson, Jeffrey Stumpf; and granddaughter, Jinell Wise.
Friends may call on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:45 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 331 North Thoman St, Crestline, with Rev. Jeff Smith Celebrant. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion, where military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army.
