James "Jim" Mahoney Obituary

James “Jim” Edward Mahoney, 68, of Galion passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 16, 2021. He was born on November 29, 1952 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to the late Tom and Roselyn (Fox) Mahoney.

On September 25, 1976, Jim married the love of his life, Cathy (McKenna) Mahoney and she survives in Galion.

Jim was a 1970 graduate of Galion High School. After high school Jim went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Jim would go into business for himself, owning and operating Tax Matters Representation Inc. in Galion, he would also obtain his Enroll Agents License that is issued by the United States Treasury.

Jim was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Galion and the Knights of Columbus Council #1234. He enjoyed flying and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #148.

In addition to his wife Cathy, Jim is survived by his two sons; Dr. Adam (Abbey) Mahoney of Rocky River and Dr. Andrew (Christen) Mahoney of Delaware; grandchildren, Avery, Elliott, and Isaac; siblings, Anne Mahoney of Galion, Ret. Major William (Nancy) Holmes-Mahoney of Fairfax, VA., John (Charlotte) Clark-Mahoney of Seattle, WA., Loretta Mahoney of Columbus; and sister-in-law Rebecca Mahoney.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings Elizabeth Mahoney and Mark Mahoney.

Jim has decided on an Anatomical donation to the University of Toledo Medical College.
A Memorial Mass will be read on Friday Jan. 22, 2021 at 11:00AM in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 135 North Liberty St. in Galion. Father Paul Fahrbach officiate the Mass and James will be buried in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, at a later date.
