Janet Strauch Obituary

Janet P. Strauch, age 91, of Crestline, passed into the presence of her loving Father on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Elmcroft Assisted Living, Mansfield, Ohio.

She was born on October 20, 1930, (10/20/30) in Galion, Ohio to the late Arla and Helen (Rhodebeck) Pfeifer.

"This is my story, This is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long." One of Janet's favorite hymns, she lived her life by praising God and her story and song were one of the most beautifully lived.

Janet graduated from Galion High School, Class of 1948. On July 17, 1950, Janet married Thomas A. Strauch "her perfect Tom" and together they owned Strauch & Obermiller Jewelers (Crestline) and worked alongside one another for many years serving their community. Tom preceded her in death on December 3, 1999.

Janet had a heart of gold and loved to give back to her community. She was a very active member of the Calvary United Church of Christ (UCC) in Crestline, where she taught Sunday school, was involved in numerous groups and never missed a Sunday service. During the Christmas season Janet volunteered a lot of her time at UCC for the annual Community Christmas event, she helped to bless the less fortunate with a Merry Christmas. Janet made over 80 prayer square quilts for people in the community who needed extra care during an illness or hardship. She was a charter member of the Meals on Wheels for Crawford County and also an active member of the Alpha Sigma Sorority. Janet enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, "family is everything" she would say, she hosted a Sunday dinner for her family every week. She had a true talent and passion for quilting, sewing and tending to her flower gardens. Janet really enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in Florida with her husband. Known as "Grammy" Janet rarely missed a sporting event of her grandchildren, always had fresh baked cookies in her house, and was a fan of reading a good book.

Janet is survived by her two children; R. Ann (Michael) Coward, Crestline; David (Cathy) Strauch, Crestline; three grandchildren; LeAnn (Jeff) Young, Delaware; Chad (Jill) Coward, Lexington; Kyle Strauch, Galion; four great-grandchildren; Owen, Lila, Ellie and Darcy; her brother Jack (Jan) Pfeifer, Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet will be remembered for her giving nature and pure heart. Corinthians 13:4 Love is patient, Love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 13:7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
