Janice Ramsey Obituary

Janice Marie Ramsey, 96, of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Galion, passed away on October 1, 2021, peacefully at home in Florida.

Janice was born on April 19, 1925 to the late Frank and Cornelia (Stover) Egner. On July 10, 1943, Janice would marry her loving husband Val Ramsey and they spent 57 years in love. Val preceded Janice in death in June of 2001.

Janice was a 1943 graduate of Galion High School. She was known for her work ethic, working several jobs around Galion at Stout's Restaurant, H&K Drugstore, and North Electric in the Inspection Dept. Janice also did her part during WWII as she worked at Galion Iron Works, dipping components needed for the war effort and writing messages inside the waxed parts for the guys overseas.

Later in life, Janice worked side-by-side with her husband Val as they owned and operated the U.S. Steel Grave Vault in Galion for 48 plus years. Janice was a partial owner and Vice President of the U.S. Steel Grave Vault until her retirement.

Janice so appreciated the wonderful relationship to the Carter family with whom Miller and Florence became the friends and mentors who helped them in their business life. Peg (Carter) Cagle has been a part of the Ramsey family for a very long time.

Janice's longtime school friendship with Vee Tyree (aka the principal's daughter) added to both their mutual love of life, in mischief and adventures.

Other than work, Janice had several joys in life. One of which was traveling, especially by boat. She and Val took their boat from Ohio to Florida one summer loving all the escapades along the way. Janice was also an animal lover, and she had fond memories of her trips to The Wild's in Southern Ohio and Wild Kingdom at Disney. You could often find Janice playing her card game of choice, bridge. With that being said, Janice's most cherished memories in life were those of her family, which she adored.

Left to appreciate Janice's humor, love of life and cherished memories are her daughter; Marcia Ramsey of Cape Coral, FL.; great-grandson; Andrew (Fiancé- Ashley Smith) Ball of Akron; sister-in-law's; Florence Ramsey of Crestline; Helen Ramsey of Laguna Hills, CA.; nieces and nephews; Beatrice (Kenny) Barth of Mansfield, Doug (Linda) Smith of Galion; Sharon (Bob) Koons of Raleigh, N.C. and David (Susan) Ramsey of Boca Raton, Fl; Debbie (George) Gilbert of Long Beach, CA.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Janice was preceded in death by two sons; Michael and Mark Ramsey; siblings; Doris Sutter, Henry Egner, and Alberta Smith.

Janice's family will observe a private burial at Fairview Cemetery in Galion. A celebration of Janice's life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations in Janice's name to Crawford County Community Action; 124 Buehler St, Galion, OH 44833.
