Joann Stiffler Obituary

Joann Marie Stiffler, of Crestline, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Avita Health Hospital in Ontario, at the age of 72, surrounded by her family.

Born on September 16, 1951, Joann was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Marie (Popovich) Ricciardo. She graduated from Riverside High School in the Class of 1969. Continuing her education, she earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Maine, followed by a master's degree in Education from Marygrove College.

Joann dedicated her life to teaching, spending 30 fulfilling years as a beloved teacher at Crestline Elementary. She touched the lives of countless students, instilling in them a love for learning. After retiring from teaching, Joann pursued her passion for education by becoming the Supervisor of Student Teachers at Heidelberg University.

Joann was a devout member of the United Church of Christ, faithfully attending services wherever her husband served as a minister. She married the love of her life, Rev. Martin, on September 6, 1969, and together they formed a strong and loving partnership that lasted over five decades.

In her free time, Joann enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, cherishing moments at their sporting events and family gatherings. She had a talent for baking and loved to share her delicious creations with her loved ones. Joann also had a collection of cookbooks, always eager to try new recipes and experiment in the kitchen. She cherished her visits to the beauty salon, enjoying the camaraderie and connection with friends she made there. Joann was also a regular at Walton Lake, where she kept in touch with dear friends and enjoyed lively conversations, aka gossip. She truly enjoyed her pool in her backyard at their house. Joann loved her annual family vacation to Colonial Williamsburg.

Joann was a beloved wife of Rev. Martin Stiffler, devoted mother of Jonathan (Jessica) Stiffler, Kristin (Scott) Rickel, and Jefferey (Kerry) Stiffler, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
