John James Malatin, 69, of Lakewood passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022, at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland.
John was born in Cleveland on September 4, 1952, to the late Martin and Josephine (Gruss) Malatin.
John was a 1970 graduate of St. Peter Chanel High School and would go on to receive his bachelor's degree in Communications from Kent State University. He worked for the Cuyahoga County Social Services office for many years until his retirement. Born with handicapped arms, John taught himself to swim and overcame all obstacles to learn how to drive an automobile. He enjoyed every facet of music and collected numerous vinyl albums, especially Peter Gabriel and Jodi Mithcell. Born and raised in Cleveland, John was an avid Browns and Indians fan. When company came to visit, he would serve his specialty of home-made pizza, crust and all.
Left to cherish John's memories are his sister, Barb (John) DiPietro of Crestline; sister-in-law, Delores Malatin of Waterford, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Marty Malatin and sister, Donna Niedermyer.
