Laura Ellen (Koogler) Sopher

Laura Ellen Sopher, 90, of Galion passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Galion Avita Hospital.

Laura was born on April 7, 1931 in Lafayette, Ohio to the late Charles W. Koogler and Louella D. (Murray) Koogler. She married the love of her life, Rev. Joseph "Joe" Sopher on August 19, 1951, at the Lafayette United Methodist Church and lovingly raised two daughters: Brenda and Michelle.

Laura was a 1949 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School and was an Administrative Assistant at Morrow Manor for 5 years. A longtime member of St. Mark United Methodist Church of Galion before its closure, where she was involved with several groups.
Laura was a Girl Scout Leader, enjoyed traveling to her late husband Joe's Army reunions as well as the East Ohio Conferences together. She was an avid reader and cherished moments spent playing Euchre with friends.

Left to cherish Laura's memories are her daughters; Brenda (Brian) Treisch of Galion and Michelle (Tim) Sweeney of Delaware; her 5 grandchildren; Colin Sweeney, Quinn Sweeney, Luke Eisnaugle Treisch, Taryn Sweeney and Chris Eisnaugle; great-granddaughter; Teagyn Galloway; and her sister; Linda (Bill) Priest of Lima.
In addition to her parents, Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Joseph "Joe" Sopher and brother, Edward Koogler.

The family will observe a graveside service on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Lafayette Cemetery near Lima, Ohio.
