Oscar Dewey Casteel, Jr., 55, of Galion, passed away on August 20, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Oscar was born to Oscar and Shirley (Massingill) Casteel, Sr. on September 17, 1968.
Oscar was a graduate of Crestline High School, class of 1986. He met and married the love of his life, Rhonda (Rinehart) Casteel, on July 9, 1988; they spent 36 wonderful years together.
Oscar enjoyed fishing, listening to classical rock and roll, riding his Harley Davidson, and always looking forward to seeing his granddaughters. Oscar enjoyed his work and took great pride in it at Longstreth Memorials for many years.
Left to cherish Oscar's memories are his wife; Rhonda, mother; Shirley (Massingill) Casteel, mother-in-law; Patricia Rinehart, children; Megan (Jake) Brown, Tyler (Amaya Kerr) Casteel, granddaughters; Haylee, Chelsea, Makenna, and Lucy, brothers; John Casteel, Tom (Debbie) Casteel, Sandy Combs, brothers-in-law Rick Rinehart, Randy (Joyce) Rinehart, Rob (Laurie) Rinehart, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with longtime friend Mark Alberty.
Oscar was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Casteel, Sr., and father-in-law Richard Rinehart.
Friends may call on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The family is requesting to wear casual attire. The graveside service will take place at Iberia Cemetery starting at 1:30 pm.
