Phyllis Jean "Jeanne" Hitchcock-Kinslow of Galion, Ohio died on May 17, 2022 after a brief illness at the home of her daughter, Angel Barone, also of Galion. Jeanne was born on October 10, 1940 in Monaville, West Virginia to Kenneth Hitchcock and Marian E (Chapman) Hitchcock. Both parents preceded her in death and were eagerly awaiting her arrival in heaven.
Jeanne was a loving, caring woman who opened her arms and heart to many people and loved them as if they were her own. Because of her loving heart, she was able to lead more than one of them to Jesus. She rejoiced with them as they received the joy of salvation. She wore many hats and had the privilege of being known by many names including Wife, Mom, Momma, Sister, Grandma, Mimi, Aunt, Nana. mentor and friend.
Jeanne was a multi-faceted woman with many interests and talents. She was an avid reader and loved collecting the books that she enjoyed. She was always willing to share a book with others. She loved working in her flower garden and created delightful gardens to enjoy with family and friends. One of her favorite things to collect was jewelry. She had several large jewelry boxes full of myriad colors and styles of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings. She also had a wonderful collection of dolls of which she was proud and that brought her comfort. At Christmas time, her house was a beautiful wonderland of decorations and there was always food for drop ins to her annual open house. After her children started growing up, she found the courage to attend Mansfield Business College where she made the dean's list.
Jeanne is survived by her husband of nine years, Jackie Kay Kinslow. They were married on March 12, 2013. She is also survived by 7 children: Robin Lynne' (Steve Frances), Chris Beaver, Dawn Waddell, Angel (John) Barone, Mike (Roxie) Butterfield, Kenny (Jenny) Butterfield, and Sheila (Thom) Tupps. Five Step Children: Debbie McWhorter, Stella (Andy) Sproul, Jacqueline Edwardson, Michael (Sarah) Kinslow, and Jack Kinslow. Four sisters: Pat Rice, Jaree Ward, Judy (Bill) Lawson, and Brenda (Donny) Willis and Sister-in-law Gerry Rice Hitchcock. Grand children: Ian Frances; Jason Kjems and Willow Beaver; Erica Petty (Ryan Muller), Sarah Burke and Shannon Waddell; Jesselyn (Caleb) Nigh, Jarod, Breanna, and Autumn Barone; Jasmine Butterfield; Emma & Kalynne Butterfield; Kyle Dejean & Brody Hart. She will also be missed by 9 step-grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews who all adored her.
Those who were waiting to greet her in heaven include her Daddy and Mother, Kenneth and Marian. Siblings: Ronald Hitchcock, Jimmy Ray Hitchcock, Billy Gray Hitchcock, Neal Hitchcock, Dale Hitchcock, Sue Johnson, and Robert Hitchcock.
Services will be held at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion, Ohio on Monday, May 23,2002. Pastor Danny Akers will be officiating. Calling Hours are Monday, May 23, 2022 from 10-11 am with funeral starting at 11am. Burial to follow will be held at Iberia Cemetery. Everyone is invited to celebrate her life and sing along at Victory Life Praise and Worship Center (1700 Fairview Road, Galion) after the burial.
Memorial contributions can be made to The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews or St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital.
