Richard Nicholas Jacobs

Richard Nicholas Jacobs, 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Galion Meadows. He was born on May 27, 1942, in Galion, Ohio, to the late Charles and Irene (Simmons) Jacobs.

He proudly graduated from Galion High School with the Class of 1960. He spent many rewarding years at Galion Dresser before continuing his career at Carter Machine, where he enjoyed his role as a purchasing agent. Along the way, he also found great satisfaction working as a realtor with Sluss Realty.

Richard married his beloved wife, Marilyn (Lawrence) Jacobs, on November 10, 1962. They shared 59 cherished years before her passing on August 18, 2022.

Richard was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds, never missing a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. He had a special place in his heart for the Galion Tigers Marching Band and loved dancing to their music, always enjoying the joy and energy they brought. Above all, Richard cherished his grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and happiness in his life. Known for his great sense of humor, he could brighten any room with his laughter. He was also a member of Berean Baptist Church, where his faith and fellowship were deeply valued.

Left to cherish Richard's memory are his children, Anita Morgan, Steve Jacobs, and Gary Jacobs; his grandchildren, Megan Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, Amber Morgan, and Ashley Morgan; and his siblings, Mary Pfeifer, Marlene Ruby, and Timothy Jacobs.

In addition to Marilyn and his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Deborah Kay Jacobs, and his sister, Jean Wise.
 

Friends may call on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Service - Galion Chapel, 303 Portland Way N., Galion. A funeral service will begin immediately at 2:00 PM, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery.
