Robert "Bob" Martin, Jr. Obituary

Robert "Bob" Wade Martin, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the age of 77, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born on January 1, 1947, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert and Betty (Cottle) Martin, Sr. On June 18, 1966, he married Marilyn (Vilella) Martin who was his beloved wife for 51 years, before her passing on November 6, 2017.

Bob graduated from Jefferson Morgan Senior High School, Class of 1964. He later obtained his associate degree at Mansfield Business College. As a proud veteran, Bob served his country with honor as a Chief Master Sgt. of the 179th Maintenance Squadron in the Ohio Air National Guard, retiring in 1995. His commitment to duty and his fellow service members was a true testament to his character. We salute his bravery and sacrifice.

Bob was a longtime member of the Crestline VFW Post 2920, the Crestline American Legion Post 488, and the Crestline Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #859. Bob enjoyed watching Wrestling (WWF) and cooking, especially making his peanut butter fudge at Christmas to share with friends and family. He will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and community. His warm smile and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He will be greatly missed by his twin daughters Kimberly (Ron) Winkle of Bucyrus and Michelle (William) Flanagan of Ashland, as well as his cherished grandchildren who affectionally referred to him as "Pap", Ashley Smith, Stephanie (Christopher) Adler, Brian (Samantha Tesso) Barnett, three step-grandchildren; Billy Flannagan, Lindsey Mathewson, and Kassandra Winkle, four great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Martin.
