Ronald Warfel Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Lloyd Warfel, 85, of Galion passed from this life on Sunday, January 9, 2022, with his loving family along his side as he would have wanted.

Ron was born in Marion, Ohio on December 16, 1936, to the late Vernon and Annabelle (Swihart) Warfel. He married his childhood sweetheart Kathryn "Kate/Kathy" Sifritt on December 8, 1957 and she survives him.

Ron was a 1954 graduate of Cardington Lincoln High School, after high school he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 - 1959 at Travis Air Force Base, California where he trained dogs for the Military Police. After, his discharge, he went on to train dogs for the Sheriff's office, Bucyrus Police Department as well as obedience classes for private families. Ron was the Vice President in commercial loans for City Loan, First National Bank for many years as well as First Federal Bank of Ohio, where he retired from. He was a collection officer of loans most of his life and was greatly respected by everyone that came down his path and in return, Ron gained many friends from his job. Ron also enjoyed going to the banking school conferences where he always learned something new. He was a member of many clubs such as the 20/30 Club which was a club for city professionals, many banking clubs, and a lifetime member of the Galion Elks Lodge BPOE #1191 where he oversaw the "Toys for Tots". Ron had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party. Kate and Ron loved to travel with their traveling club anywhere the road would take them, where they met many friends. Ron loved going to the Ohio State Fair and Cedar Point every year. He was a 50-year club volunteer for the Ohio State Fair. One thing Ron never did was give up and was greatly proud of being a Cancer Survivor.

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by daughters, Betsy (Tim) Haas and Micki (Joe) Kochheiser both of Galion; granddaughter, Dr. Jamie Haas of Erie, Pennsylvania; sister, Penny Albright of Cardington; nephews, Steve (Jeri) Lawrence of Marion, Bruce (Leah) Lawrence of Marion, Matt (Rhonda) Lawrence of Columbus as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Annabelle Warfel, brother, Larry Warfel and nephew, David Lawrence.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, 303 Portland Way North. Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Humane Society.
