Ronald "Andy" Deems Obituary

Ronald "Andy" Deems, 83, passed away on August 13, 2020 at Ganzhorn Suites in Powell, OH.

Ronald was born in Detroit, MI on May 19, 1937 to the late Clarence H. and N. Marguerite (Donaldson) Deems.

He moved to Ohio in 1949 where he farmed the family farm while he went to school. He met his sweetheart, Pauline Soldan in school and they were married on November 16, 1957. Ron was one of the first 13 employees hired at the Crestline PPG plant where he worked 13 years. In addition to farming he also owned and operated Andy's Water Conditioning later known as Ecowater of Mid-Ohio, for 30 years. After retirement, he moved to Candlewood Lake where he enjoyed relaxing and boating until he moved to Delaware County. Ron was very active in his church, Kiwanis and the Gideons. He was a Past Lieutenant Governor of Ohio Kiwanis and Past President of the Ohio Water Quality Association. He was a 40 year member of the Galion Lodge #414 Free & Accepted Masons and a 30 year member of Warpole Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a hard-working, loving family man and was very proud of his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His loving wife cared for him after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease the last years of his life.

Survivors include his wife Pauline (Soldan), sons Rick (Deb), David [Maura], Mark (Melissa), Andy [Robin], special family members, George & Janet Allen, grandchildren Emily (Justin) Dodson, Alex (Allyssa) , Amanda, Nick, Tim, Luke, Liam, Jenae Whitehead, Kaeli Tracht, Nick Marsh, Lexi Galco, Peter Deems, Laura Deems; great grandchildren Stella and Margot Dodson, Sullivan and Nolan Deems, Ava and Chloe Galco, nieces, Sheri Hasse, Lori McGinley, Vicki Kapcio and Cindy Littlejohn, nephews, Kirk Garverick, Don Deems, Nathan Littlejohn, and Terry Allen, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Alan H. Deems and June Garverick.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or Williamsport United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 12:45 PM until the time of service at 1:45 PM at the Williamsport United Methodist Church, 6130 US 42, Mt. Gilead, OH  43338 with Pastor Leslie Mahaney officiating.  A private burial will take place at St. Paul Reform Cemetery, Crestline.
