Ronald “Ron” Lee Horton, 78, of Galion, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Woodside Village Care Center surrounded by his family. Ronald was born on December 2, 1946, to the late parents Frank and Ollie (Teseniar) Horton.
Ron was a graduate of the Galion High School, Class of 1965. Soon after he went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. While serving in the U.S. Navy, Ron met and married the love of his life, Cherylene (Bradford) on April 13, 1968.
After serving in the Navy, he embraced a fulfilling career as a machinist in Galion, where he dedicated over 40 years of his life, making a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Ron’s passion for life extended beyond his work; he had a zest for playing euchre and chess, often captivating friends and family with his strategic moves and his wit.
Ron loved photography and relished capturing the beauty around him, whether it was a scenic landscape or a cherished family moment. He had a keen interest in antique cars and thoroughly enjoyed visiting car shows, marveling at the craftsmanship of classic automobiles. His enthusiasm for speed led him to become a devoted follower of drag racing, where he found joy in the thrill of the race.
Left to cherish Ron’s memories are his wife, Cherylene Horton; his son, David Horton; his daughter, Debra (Dallas) Curren; his brother, Dale (Deb) Horton, three grandsons, and a great-granddaughter.
