Ruth Ann (Klingel) Stirm

Ruth Ann Stirm, 89, of Galion, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.

Ruth Ann was born in Wyandot County on July 27, 1935, to the late Lloyd Klingel, Sr., and Lydia (Boehm) Klingel. She was a graduate of Sulfur Springs High School, Class of 1953. After high school, she furthered her education by attending Bowling Green University and received her bachelor's degree in education. Ruth Ann married Arthur Stirm on October 25, 1955, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1999. Ruth and Arthur would live on their family farm for their entire lives, raising their children with the values and work ethic needed to operate a family farm.

Ruth Ann was an elementary school teacher her entire working career, spending one year teaching at Buckeye Central and 42 years at Colonel Crawford. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Galion and was part of the circle quilting group. Ruth Ann was also a member of the NEA and OEA Education Association and Galion TWIG. In addition to her educational endeavors, Ruth was a member of the Eastern Star.

Ruth Ann is survived by her sons: George (Dorene) Stirm of Galion and Andrew (Jennifer) Stirm of Bucyrus; 5 grandchildren: Christian Stirm, Gracie Stirm, Sydney Stirm, Isaac Stirm, and Avary Stirm; sister-in-law: Shirley Klingel; son-in-law: Gail Amstutz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her daughter: Margarete "Peggy" Amstutz; siblings; Betty Russell and Lloyd Klingel, Jr.; niece: Amy Russell, and nephew: Gary Holt.

Friends may call on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home; 303 Portland Way North, Galion. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
