Salvatore "Sam" Joseph Chinni, 65, of Crestline, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Born on December 14, 1958, he was the devoted son of the late Josephine Catherine (Tornichio) Chinni and Salvatore (Sam) Chinni.
Sam was preceded in death by his mother, father and older sister, Andrea (Frederick) Feeney. He leaves behind his sister, Rose Chinni Burns, and brother, Joseph (Diane) Chinni. Among his nieces and nephews, Anthony Chinni, Joseph (Lindsey) Chinni, Angela (Christian) Watson, Michelle (Kelly) Thomas, Thomas (Jamie) Feeney, Catherine (Brian) Posendek, and Andrew (Lindsey) Burns, Sam will be remembered for his humor, sharp wit and occasional gruffness, traits that made him who he was.
A devoted animal lover, avid reader, Cavs (sometimes Celtics), Browns and Ohio State fan, he lived life on his own terms. He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly camping with his brother, his best friend, Dave, and his nephews and niece. He could discuss history and current events with the best of them. His loyalty, though sometimes hidden beneath a rough exterior, was unwavering.
His career took him through various roles, his favorite being at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Crestline. Recently Sam could be found working alongside his friend, Barry (Marie) Chartier or volunteering at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Sam was a man who marched to the beat of his own drum, leaving an imprint on the hearts of those who knew him best. Farewell, Sam, may your spirit be at peace.
